Nanao, between fields, mountains, sea and beach
For the second time, i decided to have a look a bit deeper in
Nanao beautiful beach. So i decided with my girlfriend and one of her friend to go there to try to find the caves people talk about on their blogs. As usual, i get fully ready for the expedition, and cannot wait to go deep inside these caves, looking for some forgotten pirate treasures, or Japanese artefacts as they took the city during the colonial period.
It has been announced that the weather gonna suck but who cares... we were determined nothing would have stopped us. When we arrived, there was no sign of rain, it was very cloudy and crazy hot and humid. we arrived around 10:30am , rent our bycycles, and started our journey.
we ride through awesome flowers fields, fish farms, rice field and it took us 30 min to reach the beach.
As usual, the beach was empty. Less than 15 persons for miles and miles of wild beach. the level of pollution is the lowest i have ever seen because as we all know Taiwanese are not keen on getting tanned , therefore beaches are for us, explorers...
We've continued riding our bike for 20 long and hard minutes on the sand which make the exercise much more intense and when we couldn't advance more, we took a rest then walked for 30/40 min to reach these dreamed caves. the landscape is such a treasure at the first place, so this awesome view make us forget about the heat and all the pain.

And then here we are, in front of the first caves. The first disappointment was that there were not huge or deep .... so for all the bloggers and people who will like to go and visit them...
YES THEY ARE COOL BUT THEY ARE SO SMALLLLLL.
i got my light with me, my equipment, thinking going deep inside mountains following the dream of finding a pirate treasure or whatever...
WAS IT WORTH IT? YES OF COURSE . It is such amazing over there.
so i offloaded my backpack, take my
metal detector and start the research.
the girls were left to their favourite activity , TCHATING and TCHATING and TCHATING... actually they never stopped talking.... talking on the train, talking on the bicycle, talking, and talking and talking... if there was any competition for that, i can say with certainty, i got the winning pair... unbeatable these two. :)

Actually, we stopped at the first mountains with it caves. they are like 3/4 caves but we were quiet tired to go far as all the distance travelled will need to be done again and we have a train to catch at 17h. i really wish to be able to rent some quads to do like 10/15kms. The beach continue until
hualien so i need to refine my search in order to find someone renting this kind of vehicle. it would be amazing. how many other caves will i find? how many 100% virgin caves? it might be lots of them along this beach.

after an hour of research, no pirate chest found,no artefact, no relic, a bit of trash. i have been looking almost everywhere and the most valuable and amazing found was not on the ground but on the cave walls. i found this amazing quartz block filled with gold. My metal detector start bipping crazy and indicating the magic number. i knew i have got something. there was many other signal coming out from the walls and everything attached to quartz blocks.

That's it for this time, we get back to the village, eat some delicious lemon and passion fruit sorbet... really delicious and get back to Taipei by train. 2h40min without seats.... an HORROR.
i would like to resume this trip with this last picture.
