http://coojing.net/category/discoveries-and-prospecting/chinkaushih-and-juifen-area/ jiufen lost city[/caption]   i woke up with the  idea of all the undiscovered treasures the island of taiwan still hidding. i decided to go an prospect in jiufen area (north east of taiwan) well know for it gold mine. what i found was a bit shocking for me... thousands of persons crowded in small street, waiting for their food or sweets. it is very sad as all around the village there are plenty of wonderfull landscape and pieces of forgotten history. some amazing wildlife surrounded by incredible mountains. so  our next move was to go just near jinguashih and we did so. [caption id="attachment_444" align="aligncenter" width="450"] me and mother nature[/caption] after a 15 min walk, here we are, ALONE. that is just amazing to be in an empty place ... just 15 min. a full ghost village where miners used to live in and which was abandoned after the gold mine closed. we have seen like 10 persons so far and it is so beautifull. we found the POW which is an old camp where the americans and english prisoners during war were enslaved to work in the mine. something i have never heard about but quiet real. yes, during japenese control, not many people know about this tragic and horrible moment of history. so at the end of the day. i didnt prospect for anything, forgot my ideas of finding old coins, relic and treasure but go back home more educated and happy of a lovely day out (no sun unfortunately) when you decide going a bit further downstream, you will find the gold ecological park, and obviously you do not have the right to go down  where nthe river is ... (really pissed off, but the rule is the rule ...ini't?) and you will come across the golden falls which are splendid.
